Today, I want to write about Candace's visit two weekends ago. Candace, as many of you know, is a wonderful friend I met back at Texas Tech. We had a same voice teacher. Our friendship grew and I eventually invited her to live with me and Erika during her graduate career. She's a professional opera singer, by the way; how awesome is that! I admire her because she has always stayed persistently with her passion. While I chose the practical side and decided to pursue business in undergrad, and then eventually made my way to higher education (trust me, I love where I ended up in), she remained passionate through her love of music, especially opera. I guess I admire her even more these days because I do miss singing, and I wish I had done a better job staying involved in the world of singing.

| Waiting for her turn to audition |
Two weekends ago, she visited Houston because of an audition for the San Franciso Opera. The audition was held at Rice University. I decided to go with her, even though I would not be allowed in the audition room, because moral support felt important. I don't know if my moral support helped at all, but with her amazing talent, she was invited to sing in the final round of audition. So, she did just that in her beautiful dress. I am immensely proud of her, and I am certainly crossing fingers for the best outcome.
The rest of the non-audition/preparation time went towards 'us' time having lunch and shopping. We also watched a couple of movies at home, which was simply relaxing.
