Janurary 2014: Month-At-A-Glance

When Janurary is one of the busiest (and stressful) months at work and it is equally a busy month for the husband, the entire goes by too quickly that it becomes a blur.  Z is currently at his last stretch of residency interviews, and inevitably, became a travel expert.  On the days he is not traveling, he has odd ER shifts where it runs an opposite schedule to mine.  When I say that I haven't seen my husband a lot this month, it is truly and utterly accurate.

I am thankful that this month is closing to an end.  I have always disliked the final stretch of the registration period each semester because people get extremely selfish and nasty.  It becomes all about their demands and a total disrespect to the policy and deadlines of an organization in place.  It's also a humbling experience because I appreciate a lot more for the people that work in the customer service industry, and I become more careful about how I behave in frustrating situations as a customer.

I am also anxiously waiting for this interview marathon to end for Z.  He seems so exhausted from answering similar questions to over 15+ different programs.  Also, the idea of traveling all over the country every week (sometimes with a last minute notice) has been financially burdensome for both of us.  It's not always fun when you never have a chance to see your spouse and when you do, you're on an opposite schedule.  After these interviews, he will still have clinical rotations, but at least he will get to sleep at home.  We can't wait for him to be home for once and for all.

This was taken in early January.  It was a beautiful weather, but definitely NOT a winter weather!

An email like this lessens a stressful day.

A fun day with the girls in Galveston.  The great thing about living in Texas is that you can still enjoy your drink outdoors.
Katrina turned 1!

Another beautiful day in Galveston.  Z was out of town for interviews again.

Lilly and I missing Z.

A proof that Lilly is a daddy's girl.  Every time he is out of town, she waits for him by the door all night long.  Sometimes  she will give up and join me in bed in the middle of the  night.

Houston is currently under a cold front.  Yesterday, the media started exploding with news about this cold front and the whole city was in PANIC.  I mean, panic.  By the time I was heading home, the traffic looked liked this (below) and took me an hour 20 minutes.  At that time, it was 40 degrees, some rain (but not much), and windy.  It was expected to fall below freezing overnight, which would cause all the roads to ice.  By this morning, I received messages from my school that it will be closed today, so here I am with an extended weekend.  Yes, this is what happens in the South.

Traffic in Houston yesterday.

Cuddle time with my munchkin.

I hope everyone stays warm and safe!
