An Eventful Evening

A renown mezzo-soprano, Susan Graham, has visited Lubbock this week (she graduated from Tech!). I have heard that she had a delightful chat with the music students (which I am not part of, so I was not in attendance) and tonight, she was performing with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. I was elated because it would be my first time be part of a live performance by a renown singer, especially, a mezzo-soprano.

I figured this would be a formal event so I wanted to look all nice and have a great time with my current and former roommate, whom has visited this weekend specifically for this occasion. In the afternoon, I went to my hair appointment and got the cut/styling I want which meant no effort on my side! I also wore the dress I bought from ModCloth for the first time [My first ModCloth experience] and was ecstatic by the way it turned out.

{And we were very happy for our former roommate, Candace, to join with us!}

We had dinner at Olive Garden. And I actually ordered something different this time. It tasted great. I now feel compelled to try different foods more often.

{I was a little big hungry}

After a very fulfilling and fun-chattered dinner, we head to the Civic Center to attend the concert. Susan Graham is an AMAZING performer. Her energy and presence on stage were incredible; I only wished I could be half of her talent. I was exposed to some great music I have not heard before, and once again allowed me to appreciate arts. I was inspired by her past and her present; it made me wanted to try harder for the things I want to accomplish. What a lifetime opportunity it was.

{Too bad the photographer blocked the flash...still a cute picture of us}

We faced a rainy night with craving for sweets. We stopped by at Sheridan's, a custard/smoothie place, where I got my favorite strawberry banana smoothie. It was so good.
