Fall has finally arrived in Houston!! It has been a long anticipation for the arrival of my favorite season. I was getting grumpy about fact that I have still been able to wear flip flops, bright colors, and short sleeve shirts in late October, and then suddenly the cold front came Thursday night. Friday was a perfect day to welcome the cooler weather, since Casual Friday at work allowed me to wear virtually anything I wanted. I threw on my plaid shirt with blue scarf and greeted this change with so much excitement.
Z had to work today at the hospital, so he didn’t come back home until 2pm. I rolled up all the windows in the apartment, turned off the A/C, and let the fresh air circulate (fyi, it’s impossible to do this in the summer when the humidity is well at 100%). After preparing for lunch, getting a load of laundry done, and watching my Texas Tech football lose to #4 Kansas State, we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous and cool weather of Houston. We drove to Hermann Park (it was where our engagement pictures were taken) to walk around. We saw the ducks, watched people in their cozy sweaters, and walked around the park for miles. The weather was so refreshing, and I seriously couldn’t contain my excitement for finally welcoming my favorite season.
We also witnessed a baby duck wandering around the park, tirelessly chirping and searching for the mom. After almost getting attacked by the dogs (thankfully the owners of those dogs restrained them), the baby duck started walking towards me. It unresistingly snuggled in my hands, shivering and continuously chirping. I tried to keep the baby duck warm and figure out what to do with it. Eventually, I put it back to the nearest pond hoping for a quick reunion of the baby duck and its mother.
The night was getting a little more chilly and I was getting hungry. Z drove us to 59 Diner, a cute little, vintage diner near Rice University, where I had Chicken Pot Pie. Z of course had Philly Cheesesteak, which reminds of my dad and his ordering habits.

Wow, that duck is soooo adorable! And the diner looks cute too! It's only been cold a few days here so far, but I pull out my favorite scarves on those days too. Hopefully the weather will continue to cool down.
