This past weekend my friends, Joyce and Roxi, hosted a weekend of fun and very thoughtful bachelorette party and bridal shower. While moving to Houston meant that most of my college and graduate school friends were unable to attend, some of my new friends (aka Z’s medical school friends) and co-workers attended and celebrated my impending closure of “bachelorette” status with me. Joyce and Roxi did a lovely job of keeping the party pretty laid back, just the way I wanted.
We met at a Persian restaurant, where we explored myriad of different tastes never tried before. Roxi was incredibly helpful in choosing the right kind of food for the first timers. The rest of the night was spent at Café 101, a cute upscale restaurant and bar located in the Chinatown. We played silly get-to-know-bachelorette cards and talked throughout the night. Apparently conversations among six girls meant topics in relationships, engagements (or wanting to get engaged), and having babies! It was a lovely night filled with laughter, some tasteful alcohol, and being girly.
On Sunday, Joyce and Roxi hosted a small bridal shower at the White Oak Kitchen and Bar in Galleria Mall. It was a fancy brunch restaurant and our table was decorated with adorable party favors and gifts for me. Z and Joyce’s boyfriend, Henry, also joined the occasion. I was so grateful for Joyce and Roxi with everything they have put together for me despite their busy schedules (one as a medical student, the other one as an optometry student!). This past weekend was hugely meaningful and touching. Thank you, girls!
