Lilly turned 3

You may make fun of us after this post.  This will show how spoiled our dog is and how humanly we treat her!

September 26th is when we arbitrarily decide as Lilly's birthday each year.  As you know, she was a rescue dog from a shelter when we lived in Houston so we had no idea when her birthday was.

This year, she turned 3.  It's the second birthday celebrating with us, and we were not ashamed of spoiling our furbaby to its max.  Since her birthday fell on a Friday, the celebration took place the next day when both of us were more available.  I have been wanting to take her to a fancy doggy treat shop (I know I know...), and thus I found "Treats Unleashed" which is quite well known in the St. Louis area.

We drove there after a long walk in the neighborhood.  Lilly went crazy with a rush of new and amazingly delicious treat scents that only she can smell.  The store had all kinds of treats from homemade baked goods to ice cream.  We got her a peanut butter/bacon flavored frozen yogurt, baked treats, cupcake treat, and a giant rib bone.  "Mind blown" is an understatement to describe what Lilly felt that day.

I pulled out my DSLR and started snapping away pictures of our overly excited, birthday furbaby.  She started out with her birthday cupcake (no, we didn't sing the birthday song...) and demolished that in seconds...with a huge, yucky drool that fell on Z's t-shirt.  I know, very lovely.

The "drool"

What came after the cupcake was the giant rib bone.  Lilly was absolutely possessive over this the moment she laid her eyes on it.  We eventually had to close all the bedroom doors because she wanted to hide the bone to herself.  She now has a designated spot where she chews it off every night while we are having dinner.

And then, there was this.  I am dying just looking at these pictures.  Lilly loves being held by Z, and the way they look at each other is absolutely priceless.  Z is a softy when it comes to Lilly.

Happy (belated) birthday, Lilly.  You bring us such a joy every day and greeting us so unconditionally despite being home alone for 12+ hours each day.  We are so lucky to have found you!
