Japanese Garden

Talk about falling in love with a certain place. After much anticipation, we finally did it. Well, Z probably had no idea that this was happening during his visit this weekend, but I had it in my mind for a long time. I really wanted to go to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden because I’ve seen (from the website pictures) and heard of its Japanese Garden. I wanted to experience the Asian environment again. Granted Japan is not Korea, but there is something about Asian landscaping and architecture that are obviously different from the vastness you see in America. Everything feels rather petite but very peaceful – the overarching trees, the little waterfalls, the ponds, the little bridges… they’re nothing like Niagara Falls.

It was a hot day for what it was supposed to be Spring. There were lots of visitors but not enough to destroy the image that I had of the Japanese Garden. We ended up with more pictures of me than anything else because Z’s diligent picture-taking. I kind of wish I had nicer pictures of him, too. We really enjoyed spending the day with the nature and exploring the part of Fort Worth I had not known about (Ft. Worth is approximately 30 miles away from where I live). I would say it was a satisfying day of our weekend.
