Often times this is what I see when I occasionally come home - the oasis of lights in the middle of the desert. It's actually quite a magical moment because you see nothing for almost two hours from Dallas. And then this - the vibrancy and flooding of lights - civilization. I love it. Probably my favorite moment arriving in El Paso.
I have an unusual love and obsession for coming home and being with my family. Others at my age would probably love to travel or party elsewhere, but I always tried to find every opportunity I can to see my family. Sure, I love traveling and I've had chances to explore some great places. However, nothing is better than just being able to spend days with your family. I'm so glad I got to do that. Despite my adult-like decision to not spend the entire spring break so I can be back to support my supervisor keep the office open (only staffs are required to be at work during spring break), I'm still grateful I spent a few days with my family.
You probably noticed, but we didn't really do much. We went to the park, shopped, watched movies, and did the usual stuff at home. It was exactly what I needed, though. Eating mom's homemade foods and spending time with them. As my opportunity to be with them becomes less and less each year (welcome to getting older?), I seek to maintain the normalcy in our reunion. Each visit becomes more valuable and intimate.
I'm heading back to reality in the morning, whether I like it or not. I can't wait to have them for my graduation in May.
