In celebration of concluding the month of August/reaching the university’s enrollment goal/enjoying the extended weekend, I had the pleasure of hanging out with two of my co-workers yesterday, Freda and Jaimy, who work in the admissions office. Freda and I carpooled to Galveston to join Jaimy at her favorite local bar. Freda has never been to Galveston during her 3 years of residence in Houston, so Jaimy and I were eager to take her to different parts of the town; unfortunately, due to unfavorable weather condition we had to settle down with staying indoor at all times.

We spent about 5 hours at the bar eating appetizers and drinking girly beverages while talking about every possible girl topics you can imagine – wedding, relationship, future trips together, etc. I loved spending some time away from Z, and building my own friendships in Houston. Don’t get me wrong – I love being with Z – but I have been craving for opportunities to get to know other people better and not being associated as “Z’s fiancé.” I think it’s healthy to have some independence from one another, whether that is some separation in social life, hobby, or lifestyle. Long years of long distance with Z has brought us great joy when we finally committed to be together emotionally and physically, but we soon realized to maintain a healthy relationship by allowing each other’s individuality to be expressed.
Jaimy and Freda have always been welcoming since the first day I joined the team. I was appreciative that they included me in their friendship both inside and outside of the office. I have truly enjoyed my time with them last night. I felt rejuvenated from the sense of newly established friendship and embracement of the new life as a working woman.

Wow, looks like so much fun! I'm sure it's hard to make new friends in a new city, so I'm glad to see that you have a few girls you can count on for wedding and girl talk. And I love those crazy straws! :)
