Again, long distance

Z and I are back on long distance again; it is our first since we moved in together in June 2012.  Z is doing a 5-week clinical rotation for pediatrics in Austin.  160 miles - it is our closest long distance yet to date!  While not seeing the husband on a daily basis is saddening, I am extremely thankful that we have had years of experience being apart during our relationship.  I'm not saying that we like being away from each other, but we are very used to this scenario and have adapted well.

Lilly and I drove 3 hours to Austin this weekend to see Z.  I was a little nervous about having Lilly in the car for 3 hours straight, but she was trooper!  I did let her loose so she can wander around in the car, but she never bothered me or put me in danger while driving.  I occasionally let the window down so she can be a "diva" (hair flowing, dramatic music in the background, aka radio).  She loved every moment.

That night we went to TopGolf with some friends and I played golf for the first time.  I actually wasn't so bad at golf and scored pretty well.  I loved watching Z because his swing was so powerful!

Saturday was a gorgeous day in Austin.  We went to Zilker Park and unleashed Lilly into the 'wild'.  She quickly got along with other dogs and sought every attention she could get from people as well.  Z and I just relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine.

Today, we went to the Domain - an upscale urban development in Austin.  We had Japanese food for lunch and did some shopping.  I got a skirt from The Limited and complained the rest of the day about how expensive clothes are these days.  It is true, you know.

We came back home around 7:30pm.  It only took us 2 and 1/2 hours and Lilly was very calm (much more calm than the first ride) in the car, which made my driving easier.  Leaving behind Z was hard but was comforting to know that we are a strong couple who can get through anything.  In an effort to support Z as much as a wife could, I brought back all of his laundries.  Lilly and I will be returning to Austin next weekend with fresh clothes and hopefully some homemade food.  We both miss him a lot, but we are happy to be back at our cozy apartment.
