Reliving the college days

Perhaps it is safe to say that I have become a professional traveler to Austin these days.  This weekend Roxi and her boyfriend, Devin, offered a ride to Austin so I gladly took it.  We stopped by at a Persian grocery market to grab some ice cream and tea, which, by the way, was delicious!

It was graduation weekend at UT Austin, so we visited 6th street (it's a hot spot for college students/young adults in Austin) in spirit of experiencing the old college days.  I only had a couple of drinks and mainly enjoyed the live entertainment.  We had late night munchies at 24 Diner and didn't return to Z's apartment until 4 or 5am.  Sure, when I was a sophomore or junior in college like 3 or 4 years ago so this was not a big deal back then.  The next time I woke up, I felt like I was hit by a bus.  Moral of the story: I am no longer a 'oh my god I am in college and must have fun' college student anymore.  I think my definition of 'fun' changed since graduate school, and especially since settled married life.  It was still fun, nonetheless.

The next day, after waking up at 1pm and feeling as if I was hit by a bus, we spent the afternoon at South Congress where a bunch of food trucks were located, and then the rest of the day at Zilker Park.  We finally had to greet the infamous Texas summer weather this weekend, but the breeze in the later afternoon at the park was so welcoming and pleasant.  Lilly was either too busy being chased by other dogs or sniffing other dogs without warning, while Z, Roxi, Devin, and I were relaxing and playing frisbee.

Henry and Joyce brought back Lilly and I to Houston safely this afternoon.  We are both tired from the heat and traveling two weekends in a row, but we were happy to spend the weekend with the husband/dog daddy.  Next weekend, we are heading back AGAIN to celebrate Z's 26th birthday.
