I want to thank everyone who sent me well wishes on my birthday, 3 days ago. It's always exciting and yet startling to receive so many text messages, phone calls, emails, and Facebook posts in one day. It's hard to believe that I have become 27 years old because they are so many days when I still want to feel like a little girl. As each year goes by, I try to reflect my past and appreciate what I was able to accomplish thus far. After all, at the age of 27, I am a happily married woman, have a career that I have always wanted, and living a fulfilling, independent life. I am a happy person, and that is what matters the most.

I have always preferred to spend my birthday quietly and privately. I don't necessarily believe in having a grand party each year (unless I am turning 100 or something) as long as I get to spend the day with my favorite people. Some of my favorite people, like my family and the closest friends, obviously live far away, but I am appreciative of the handwritten cards and phone calls. Most of all, I am grateful for having a husband who always makes this day extra special. I came home to a homemade steak dinner with a two dozen roses, and a happy dog greeting me. For the birthday cake Z has always brought tiramisu for me, which is my favorite.
Looking forward to the 27th year of my life!
