1 year with us

A year ago today, we brought Lilly home from the shelter (the story about how we got Lilly - click here).  She spent the first couple of weeks under the bed because she was shy.  She barely ate and she cried at night.  She was a small, scared dog that just wanted to be back in a warm place called home.

We were also first-time dog owners.  Internet searches and reading how-to dog books were our common routine at night.  Essentially, we were all trying to understand each other first time.

Lilly's first night with us

If you ever follow my instagram, you will know just how much we adore our furbaby.  A year has passed and she is a lovable little rascal.  No more hiding under the bed; in fact, she has no problem claiming the majority of our bed.  We, the humans, are the ones taking the edge of the bed to make sure we are not hurting her in our sleep.   She occasionally has funny little dreams (where she barks at something) and has no problem sleeping in between Z and I whenever she feels cold.  You will see her beg for food, all. the. time.  She particularly loves anything meat.  She seeks nightly belly rubs - her favorite activity.  She will greet you no matter how long she was alone at home or meet you for the first time.

We became one of those dog parents (or owners...) who will constantly buy cute clothes her, even if she doesn't need one, buy and encourage friends to bring gazillion squeaky toys.  And yes, we would pay $75 (now $100 at Southwest) to have her travel with us by air.

We are very fortunate to have this furbaby as our companion!
