Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope everyone got lots of flowers, cards with sweet messages, and all forms of love! My Facebook and Instagram feeds were at war - there was literally a picture of flowers being uploaded by others almost every minute! I'm not going to lie, I have been guilty of posting virtually everything on these social media too.
I had a half day at work, which was a good start of the day (I get this by working extra evening shifts at night... involuntarily.) Although it was definitely NOT planned, I had scheduled a salon appointment a while ago in which I found recently coinciding with Valentine's Day. Let's just say I wanted to surprise my hubby... I wanted to change my hair for a long time. If you don't know me by now, well, I get easily bored with my hair. I may have to post one specifically on the history of my hair style because either the hair color changes or the hair length does (in a drastic fashion). Since I got engaged I have been growing my hair out, but my hair color was kept naturally or dyed black occasionally. I wanted it to change.
I haven't changed my hair color in the last couple of years. And when I did, I bought a home kit and did it by myself at home. This time, I wanted a little more sophisticated - I wanted full highlights or ombre, or both. Either way it would have required a professional stylist to figure it out. I have searched for days to find the right stylist, someone who has a good customer service and has a good technical skills with coloring hair. While there are many like that in Houston, unfortunately, they are quite pricey. I decided to splurge myself once in my life when it comes to hair, and I figured this would be it. Trust me, I have never spent this much money on my own hair before.
I went to a relatively brand new hair salon called Studio A, which is near Rice University. It is definitely a fancier place than I usually go to but David (the stylist) had really good reviews and everyone had a good experience with him. After a brief consultation, the next 3 hours were spent under some heating tool, multiple coloring processes, waiting, washing my hair, blow drying, and etc.
3 hours later...
TA DA~~~!
What do you think? I had a pleasant experience at this salon, and I am believer of high quality service. Sure, it was an expensive spending, but I am very satisfied with the outcome. What do you think?
After the high-end pampering, which really had nothing to do with the Valentine's Day, I came back home to Z cooking a delicious meal for the occasion. He made steamed brocoolini, ravioli, garlic shrimp, and steak! A beautiful dozen pink roses and a bottle of red wine was sitting nicely on the dining table as well. How did I end up with this guy?! He apparently got compliments from other ladies while shopping for these at the supermarket today. :)
At the end of the Valentine's Day we watched "Gravity" starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. It was very overwhelming, but a superb movie.
I wish everyone had a sweet Valentine's Day whether you are married, engaged, or single! Love is in the air, y'all. :)
