Match Day 2014

Today was the day!!!  The verdict was in, and all of us were anxiously waiting.

Match Day Ceremony was filled with an emotional roller coaster.  Each person was called to pick up his/her match letter in no specific order.  Z's name was called about midway into it.  The ceremony itself only took about an hour.  As each person was finding out where they were going, there were tears and screaming (of joy) everywhere.

When we first opened the letter, we were so excited that we didn't even thoroughly read the letter.  We saw "plastic" and "University of Texas-Medical Branch" and just stopped reading.  Then, our friend Kristin noticed something that we had completely missed - the actual assigned program!  Duh... So, thank you Kristin for making sure that we read our letter completely (LOL).  I'm sure we would have found out later, but we might have accidentally sent the wrong information to our families and friends hadn't Kristin noticed our mistake.

So...

We are happy to announce that Z is officially going to be a plastic surgery resident!!!  As of this summer, we will be heading to St. Louis, Missouri!!!  Plastic surgery residency program is 6 years, so St. Louis will be our new home for at least 6 years.  He is matched with St. Louis University Medical Center.

We would like to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, texts, phone calls, cards, and emails.  This journey would have not been possible without all of your support.  We also want to congratulate all our friends and other medical students out there who have matched.  So proud of everyone!
