Announcement: new family member!

We are happy to announce that "Stark" has joined the Beh household as of Saturday, March 14th!!

Stark (renamed from Sydney) was one of the 158 animals (article here: http://www.hsmo.org/news/breeder-closing-hsmos.html) that the Humane Society of Missouri rescued after a breeding facility decided to close.  Z and I have been pondering with the idea of adopting another rescue for quite some time now, but was looking for the right time and the right pet.  The mere idea became more of a serious consideration when the news broke on the rescue of 158 animals.  We visited several shelters, and some place multiple times, until we met this little one.

Stark is a male, 1.5 year old Pomeranian.  He's a very curious dog, sweet, and a little shy.  Living in cage his entire life means being shy around people, lack of social skills around his own kind (i.e., dogs), and not having basic physical skills, such as climbing up and down the stairs.  He's very eager to learn, though, so we expect to see some great progress soon.

How's Lilly doing?  Great question!  We were very picky about choosing the right companion for Lilly.  Obviously, this second dog was going to spend the majority of the day with Lilly so we wanted to find a compatible match. Lilly, having the only-child-syndrome and super spoiled by us these last two years, she is adjusting the best she could.  She's giving herself the time and space to learn more about Stark (and what his true personality might be) while still receiving the same amount of love from us.

We hope to post more cute pictures of Lilly and Stark together soon, especially since the weather has been beautiful - it's time to take out my DSLR camera for some cheesy doggy pictures!  We'll be focusing on training Stark so he can be integrated into our lives more, and also helping Lilly adjust to having a little brother.
