I have been in a festive/holiday mood for quite some time now and wanted to do something with my favorite people before we all left for winter vacation. Even though I’ve attended several holiday parties/gatherings in the past, I personally had never hosted one. So why not this year?! Since my apartment doesn’t suit for a big party, I invited two wonderful ladies who have been my backbone this semester. We all know Yolanda because she makes a frequent appearance on this blog, but you probably don’t know Mary. Mary and I took couple of classes together last year, but we have become a lot closer this semester when I started my internship with the Learning Center. She’s one of the graduate assistants and has been a real supporter while I adjusted to the new environment. I promised her that I’d make dinner for her, so here she was!
I sent my cute little evite to these ladies for a formal invitation. We had a relaxing evening with food, wine, and lots of fun conversations! I made my own version of baked chicken, fried rice, and roasted green beans. I was really pleased to find out that everyone enjoyed their dinner. And Yolanda treated us with cupcakes for dessert…yum!
Yolanda also showed us a video project she has been working on, and it was truly touching. I was especially excited to learn about a new video-making software called Animoto, which turned out to be so much better than Windows Movie Maker. I’ll definitely be trying this out for my blog in the near future. :)
It was a great night with a couple of amazing ladies whom I call friends. I’m grateful to have this kind of friendship during my graduate program.
