My New Toy

I’m not sure either having a geeky boyfriend or working with bunch of engineering students developed this side of me, but I think I have turned into a geek.  Well, to a certain extent. I am certainly not as knowledgeable as some of the men around me, but overtime I have gained considerable amount of interest and the basic knowledge.

Even though I am not a big believer in Black Friday shopping (it’s a suicide, why would you commit yourself to such a thing?!), I do somewhat believe in Cyber Monday. One, I can do shopping at home without ever getting up.  Two, I don’t have to deal with crowds and stay safe. 

That day I got myself an early Christmas gift and splurged to buying a brand new tablet.  That’s right – a tablet.  I now have a desktop, a laptop, a smartphone, and a tablet. I think my brother is jealous. I’m all plugged in to the world. Granted my laptop is about 4-5 years old, and I wanted utilize the portability of a tablet for reading news, using for meetings and conferences. With free shipping and tax, I got a 10.1 inch display Acer Iconia tablet for slightly over $350.  It’s not too bad considering all the specs it includes. I’m being a good graduate student by not doing my school work and spending the weekend playing around with this new toy.  I love it.  So should you, if you ever get one for yourself.

The same night I ordered mine, Z also got peer pressured (by me) to buying a tablet. But his is Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Mine is better (just kidding).

I also think this new side of me fits very well with my new look. My engineering students are incredibly excited about my hardcore geeky glasses, they think it’s great.  Brownie points for me.  Hopefully that means they will follow up my emails quicker.
