Our epic journey of moving has ended today. Since June 6th, just after Z’s board exam, we began a moving marathon that started with packing everything at Z’s apartment. After spending a whole day moving by ourselves with help of a friend, we slowly filled our new place with stuff (and lots of stuff!) My family met us in Denton to help move my things few days later, and we all drove back to Houston that night with a 16ft truck. Ever since our arrival on Friday night, June 8th, we have been furniture shopping, consolidating items (we had two of everything), unpacking, and cleaning. Never in my mind did I think it was going to take this much time and effort to settle down, however, it did. This is why I’m ever so grateful and amazed by my parents’ support. Of course we are all exhausted, but we are at a very happy point in our lives. I can’t believe we finished everything in three days!!! We just now have very little details to take care of from now on.
This process has been a true testimony of my patience and endurance – I wouldn’t say I really enjoyed moving. I was irritated that everything was disorganized, dusty, and simply out of ordinary. It was probably one of the most stressful moving times I’ve ever gone through, but I’m grateful for the positivity my parents and Z have consistently instilled in me. I’m not sure why this move was so emotionally difficult. I’m taking this experience as a life-learning lesson and hoping to improve as similar challenges occur in the future.
Thank you so much to my parents who drove approximately 2,000 miles total to help us settle down, friends who carried so many heavy furniture (and helping us after my Facebook SOS message), and everyone else who constantly had us in their prayers.
Z and I cannot wait to share you photos of our new place – they’re coming up soon!
