New Home with Furniture

The long wait is over!  I know many of you (you know who) have been anticipating the pictures of our new home with actual furniture.  Mind you, our home isn’t still perfect – disorganized wires, trashes, dishes that weren’t put away, items that need to be donated/given back to our friends – but I figured that we will never be able to create a “perfect" look seen in home design magazines.  My OCD eventually calmed down and accepted the reality that some areas will always look a little messier than I preferred.

Fyi, these pictures were frantically taken right before we left for my friend’s wedding in Ingram, TX.  My normal attention to angle and natural lighting obviously didn’t happen in these pictures, but I’m still excited to share our first new home with you!

| This is the wall you see when the door opens. |IMG_5028

| One of our favorite areas – the living room.  The recliner on the bottom left is one of many furniture my dad got for us during the move.  We know already that this place will be spent a lot to watch movies and our favorite sports. |IMG_5029

| The pictures don’t quite show the massive size of the living room, but we sure were able to fit in a lot different furniture to compensate having only one bedroom.  The other side of the living room is now used as our office space.  Z’s office is on the right, mine is on left.  I had no desk prior to this move (my old apartment in Denton was all furnished), so my IKEA desk has become a new addition to our ever-growing possession of furniture. |IMG_5030

| The twin size behind our office is my old bed used since I was in undergrad at Texas Tech. It’s now being used as our nap space/guest bed/extra seating when watching movies or sports. The drawers underneath it provides a nice extra storage space for our winter clothes. |IMG_5031

| I love our dining area.  The table has also been purchased by my dad (he spent a fortune this month), and it is our most ambitious decision yet.  It’s made out of solid wood and can also expand for 2 more people to sit. It’s really heavy and HUGE for a couple like us, but we were trying to consider when we have guests over.  Friends and families, please come visit us! |IMG_5032

| Kitchen picture.  I’m loving the extra counter space we haven’t had before! |IMG_5034

| Bathroom: It’s quite colorful and disastrous looking. I’m trying to organize all those wires on the right! We also have frontloading stackable washer/dryer on further right through those white sliding doors. |IMG_5035

| This is our bedroom. Mattresses are newly purchased by us; so are the red curtains to match the new loveseat. Those plastic drawers in the front will be given back to their respectful owner – Z’s former roommate! |IMG_5037

| Another view of the bedroom.  Our new loveseat just came in on Friday! That’s my hiding spot whenever I need alone time. Also purchased by my dad. Thank you!!! |IMG_5038

| Another bedroom picture #2.  This is what happens when you have a future husband who is obsessed with electronics. He will start hanging them on the wall – like this one.  This was my TV…now mounted on the wall.  I’m afraid we may never leave the bed on the weekends to watch TV shows.  My dad (again) bought the dresser below the TV. |IMG_5039

| Finally, the closet.  Our closet is hidden behind the mirrors.  While it’s a nice walk-in closet, we still managed to fill up all the space.  We must have too many clothes. |IMG_5040

The conclusion of this tour is that a) we have a lot of stuff, 2) This move would’ve been impossible without hiring movers and the help of my parents, 3) I’m already terrified about moving again in the future.  However, we are absolutely in love with our place – it’s spacious, bright (filled with natural lighting!), and feels just like home (well, it should be).  I hope you come visit us in Houston sometime!

*** This is how things looked before we finally got settled.  Trust me, I almost cried because unpacking these were so miserable (for me at least) . ***
