What a wonderful Friday it has been! First of all, I am completely stocked about the 3-day weekend, and honestly, I wish every weekend is a 3-day weekend. My internship site currently operates in a 4-day work week for the summer, and they are loving it!
Today has been exceptionally exciting because it was my paycheck day and that meant I had a little leverage to go shopping…or just to spoil myself – however you interpret it. It was the first weekend in a long time without the boyfriend, so I had the urge to do something that’s totally girly without the guilt of dragging him into it. I called up Yolanda to see what she was up to; she agreed to hang out with me. We had a long lunch and a catch-up session at Chipotle, enjoying some Mexican flavor. We then spend some time at the library; Yolanda got some much-needed work done…I spent a whole hour of Facebook and New York Times.
We then made a trip to TJ Maxx, where we had tons of fun looking around stuff. There, I learned a new thing about my friend Yolanda (aka Yo) – she is ADDICTED to facial products. I have never seen a woman in my life that spends more than an hour just around the facial products aisle. It was quite impressive. No wonder her face looks so well-maintained. Let the jealousy ensue. I also ended up buying couple hair products and two cute tops. Our shopping endeavor was very, very successful.
We came back to my place afterwards, and I cooked dinner for us while Yo enjoyed some facial treatment with New Age music. This girl really knows how to relax! I ended up cooking some steamed veggies and baked pasta. We were incredibly full in the end, and we continued with our ever-so-fun conversations. We had a great, much-needed girls time today.
After she left, I enjoyed a hot bath using Stress Therapy Bath that I purchased at TJ Maxx. Supposedly it relieves tension of your neck and back. I’m not sure how effective it would be, but my body does feel much better.
How are you spending your 4th of July weekend? I currently don’t have much planned, but I am at least happy that this is the first year for my family to celebrate Independence Day as American citizens. How neat is that? :) Enjoy the extended weekend, everyone. And my fellow Southerners – do try to survive the heat.
