Welcoming the New Students to the Community

Thursday was Mean Green Fling! It’s the first large event that UNT Student Activities host before classes officially begin.  It’s one of the biggest events for the school, and it’s mainly to get all incoming student excited about school.  It involved tons of free food, live music, and all the departments and student organizations were out there to meet with the students.   It was a scorching three-digit heat, and I literally felt my body was instantly melting.  Several of my engineering students participated in the event, much more involvement than last year’s event, and were eager about recruiting for potential members to their organizations.

I was extremely proud of them because engineering student don’t normally participate much in this event.  It must have overwhelmed them sometimes, but they did a great job keeping themselves energized during the three hour event.  I always feel like I have done my job right when I see a group of students growing to be active members of their school.  It was seriously crazy hot, but well worth the time with these wonderful people.
