Since a few days leading up to New Years Eve, I was able to do a lot of things with my family.  I took Wonho out for lunch, and we enjoyed a warm cup of hot chocolate together at the park on a beautiful day.  Last night, we went to go watch Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol and spent an evening at Corner Bakery with delicious soup and sandwiches.  It’s not something we do often, going to a movie, so it was a lot of fun. Today, we celebrated the eve with Chinese food, walked around the park with a magnificent El Paso sunset in the background.  It was one of a kind, but also a scene so often seen in this desert town.  I never take that moment for granted since Dallas doesn’t produce same level of magnificence.  And even though Wonho’s birthday is in late January, we followed his lunar birthday (which is on new year’s) and celebrated tonight.  We wanted a celebration with the whole family, me included.  I loved seeing his smile and excitement as he blew the candles and opened his presents.

Leaving home tomorrow, I’m certainly going to miss being here again.  My family, the El Paso sunset, holiday lights that decorated our house, laughter, the sense of security you feel the moment you walk into the house…they’re all going to be missed wholeheartedly.  But I feel incredibly lucky to get the most out of this week, despite the hurdles I may had to go through last week, to finally enjoy the normality in my life. It has been an incredible journey with perpetual support from family and friends.  It feels great to end the year on a high and unforgettable note.

I’m ever more prepared and looking forward to the unexpected events of life ahead of me.  Happy New Year to everyone around the globe.  May it be another year of happiness and love!
