Cave Tubing in Belize City

Our 4th day was in Belize City. The ship arrived really early that morning, and we got off around 8:30am (I think). Wasn’t the best start for me considering how horrible I am waking up early, but Z was incredibly patient and took care of me well. Belize City didn’t have a dock so a smaller boat (100-200 people) picked us up and took us out to the town. I took a good nap on Z’s shoulder.

As an excursion, we signed up for cave tubing.  I personally had no idea what to expect until I was given a full picture by our tour guide. It obviously involved being on a tube, which I have done before last summer on a San Antonio river, but pedaling to maneuver our way. Plus, in order to get to the river, we had to walk for 30 minutes in the “real” jungle. Of course being inside the cave was dark but was absolutely magical. Oh and the river was quite cold and my body easily shivered. We experienced occasional rapids in which I was parted from the group briefly. It was a little scary waiting to be rescued, but rest assured, I was safe.

It was an exhausting day for all of us. We were tired from all the physical activities, but most of all, very hungry. However, before the dinner, Z & I enjoyed a little date night to a bar called Ellington. We immersed ourselves to a live piano performance and enjoyed a fun, reminiscing conversation about our engagement and the future.

P.S. – I lost a shoe in the river…boo
