Last night, I went to go see El Paso School District’s annual summer musical with my friend Kateleen. They had their opening night of “West Side Story”, which is scheduled to show through rest of the week.
On a side note: I was part of this annual musical program for the summer of 2004 (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) & 2005 (South Pacific). I loved every minute of it.
It was so wonderful to see high school kids doing what they love to do. And I felt so old showing up as a college graduate & realizing I was on that stage five years ago. It seemed so long ago.
Anyway, that’s not the point of this post. Suddenly, like an annual flu, I am in my performing mode – I have this huge urge to perform on stage with talented people. I miss the excited crowd, the energy from the performers, and everything that comes together into one piece after a month of rehearsing. It just looked so heavenly watching from the audience seat. I guess I missed it more than I realized.
I stumbled upon all the video clips of Glee on YouTube (I purposely searched for it), because I simply felt the need to hear some tunes sung by great performers. The cast members are indeed talented individuals.
Then I found this particular clip, a Flash Mob that happened in Rome with several tunes from Glee!!! If you are curious what a Flash Mob is, it is a random group of people that surprises public with random performance, often times with popular tunes. [There is a whole history behind it from Wikipedia, so go check it out.]
Flash Mob events always make me smile. I would like to think that it’s a way for people trying brighten up other people’s day.
This world needs some simple pleasures just because.
