400th post…remembering Spring Break 2011

I am finally back from a weeklong spring break in Galveston. After 10+ hours of daily sleep/nap & permanently gaining 3-4lbs of weight from constantly eating (& not working out), I feel like I am ready for some busy activities.

By the way, this is my 400th post for “The Little Asian”…can you believe that?!?!  Anyway, going back to the real subject, I want to document the last days of my Spring Break 2011 in the island. Eric, Z’s former roommate, stopped by in the island on Friday to visit & was thrilled to see him enjoy the particularly beautiful weather of that day considering he lives in Minneapolis [look at the map & the history of weather incidences up there…you’ll know what I'm talking about]. We hung out on the pier for hours just catching up. As I reiterate, the weather was BEAUTIFUL & will be the moment that will never be forgotten.

That night, we spent hours playing a board game with nerdy med students (aka Z & a friend of his) & former middle school science teacher (aka Eric). I never understood the appeal for board games; it was never my thing. It was three years ago, after I met Z, when I barely began to partake in this so-called leisure activity after series of personal protests. To this day, I’m not 100% loving it but I at least try. This board game in particular is very strategic, brain-intensive & exhausting for me, especially when it takes about 4 hours to complete. I thought I was going to die & literally prayed for someone to win so I can go to sleep.

Afterwards, I unwillingly learned the rules of Crabs & Black Jack in my preparation for the Vegas trip in April. I passed out around 3am & didn’t get up till 1pm the next day.

Unfortunately, adjusting from a spring-break-sleeping-schedule to a full-blown-school/work-schedule within a few days will not look pretty on me. This week’s schedule is already looking ridiculous…April is a busy, busy month for Student Affairs so this week will probably be used as an intensive preparation week. Did I tell you I’m going out of town again on Friday morning? Yep, it’s going to happen.
