A Trial & Success!

I am elated to say that Z is spending a whole month with me!  He will be doing a preceptorship (like an internship) with the Internal Medicine at one of the hospitals in DFW area.  After packing a month worth of stuff, he finally made his way up to my apartment to drop off some things.  I really wanted to take an opportunity to celebrate his belated birthday, so I prepared one of his favorite Korean foods and a birthday present.

My boyfriend has been very good about trying out Korean foods and one of his all-time favorite I’d have to say is  Bibimbab (Bi-Bim-Bab).  Its primary components are made up of rice, egg, all sorts of vegetables, ground beef, chili paste, and vegetable oil.  Pretty healthy stuff, I’d think.  I also made miso soup to complement the meal, and I think it turned out great!  I bought most of the vegetables from  H-Mart (a Korean supermarket), a pre-made package of all the necessary ingredients.  In essence, I didn’t really have to prepare much, but it was my first time serving Bibimbab and I was really proud!  Turns out Z really liked it, so mission complete!

The rest of the evening was spent celebrating his belated birthday with a delicious cake and present-opening.  It took me forever to brainstorm his birthday present, but I ended up getting him a digital frame, which he seems pretty happy about.

I don’t know about you, but I’m extremely thankful for a 3-day weekend!  I didn’t realize that tomorrow would already be Sunday so I was getting pretty upset about it, but Monday is off!! Woot!!  So what are your Memorial Day weekend plans?  Z and I are planning on going to the CityArts Festival tomorrow in downtown Dallas to look around some great local arts and music!
