There was an interesting event at the Dallas Zoo last night. Upon my friend Dan’s invitation, we and his sister made an evening trip to the zoo for a local beer tasting. Wine tasting? Sure, I did that several times, but a beer-tasting festival was clearly new to us and sounded intriguing. I thought it was a genius idea that the event was held at the zoo because it seemed like a cool venue. I did feel bad for the animals that are probably used to spending their nights quietly.

“The Brew at the Zoo” was an organized chaos, with thousands of people present in hopes for trying out beers by local breweries. There were live music, foods and some animal-viewing (those animals probably hated us being so loud at night…). Everyone was really friendly and seemed like everyone was having a great time. I also never seen that many cops at one place, but I guess it made sense because everyone was drinking…haha.

It was exceptionally neat that me and my friends didn’t have to pay a dime – we had complimentary tickets (I have no idea how Dan’s parents were able to get them!) – so it was an evening of free beers in a great atmosphere. I was also very thankful that the weather had much cooled down by then. It was a pleasant evening!

My overall favorite, which had nothing to do with drinking, was riding the carousel! The staff let people ride in it as we exited the zoo. I was really happy, like a little kid, and reminded me of the fun times in North Tonawanda last summer. It was funny to watch other adults enjoying the ride as much as I do, and it especially made me laugh when an older couple span themselves crazy fast in the teacup.

Thanks Dallas Zoo for a great time!
