Happy Day, Today

Today was a good day, despite hours of emailing and talking to students, and that my work keeps ending around 7pm.  I only get paid for 20 hours of work.  It’s the grad school life.

I had an early lunch, because class got out early, and I saw FreeBirds on my rearview mirror.  I can always eat Mexican food, especially a burrito bowl, which is a food made from heaven.  Instead of leaving the scent of the delicious food in the hallways as I usually do with my lunches, I just stayed in my car.  I rolled down the windows, enjoyed some cool breeze until it decided to be come 107 degrees instantly, watched the birds searching for foods and the remaining flowers that were barely surviving.  My lunch was incredibly delicious.  The parking lot was quiet and peaceful, and it was just what I needed before I walked into the building with full of engineers (I spend a lot of energies trying to comprehend what they’re studying).

Along came The Impossible Cake.  Tomorrow is Adrian’s birthday; he’s one of the many student assistants working in the office.  In fact, it will be his 21st.  We cannot even imagine the kind of evening he will spend tomorrow.  My awesome boss, who happens to be an amazing baker, made a cake for Adrian.  We call it “The Impossible Cake.”  All I know that it’s one of traditional Mexican birthday cakes, and my boss attempted to make it.  I heard that it’s hard to make, even the good baker boss lady was nervous about making one.  It takes over two hours to bake it, but she stayed up till midnight to do it anyway.  Hence, she’s amazing.  We had an early birthday celebration for him, had a major sugar rush at 3pm, and tried to embarrass him with a crush he has on this mysterious girl (we are trying hunt this information down).  This is what he gets for working with bunch of women.

I spent the evening talking to my tired dad, who decided to fall asleep unusually early (but totally understandable), and then moved on to talking with my mom.  Talking to my mom makes the whole world better, by the way.  I would spend hours talking, but I decided to cut it short so I can write this and start working on my homework.  Maybe next time, mom!

Next two nights should be busy for me.  I decided I’m heading down to Galveston Thursday night after work, so, much work needs to be done in the next two nights if I want some actual weekend.  I figured I need to make an appearance to the boyfriend, assuming that he misses me.  I told him I am requiring his full attention and an expectation to spoil me this weekend.  We’ll see what happens.

So, I’m now going to resume my homework session and much more reading for a higher ed finance class.  Have a great night, everyone!
