So who says grad students can’t have some fun? Well, we don’t have that many so called “fun days” as busy grad students, or more like busy grad assistants, but we do the best we can. My friend DaNeetra invited the girls to the Shecky’s Dallas Girls Night Out which is like an evening event for all women in Dallas. They apparently do this kind all across the nation, usually in the big cities, and give out free items that women like. Although it was a Wednesday night, me and 3 other girls carpooled to downtown Dallas.
It was surely interesting. There were lots and lots of women, plenty of complimentary drinks, a huge bag of free stuff of beauty products (well, we had to pay $10 for the gift bag but the total items were certainly worth more than that), and many local artists selling their clothes and jewelries. As an avid supporter for local artists, I did not hesitate to buy a handmade necklace, but I was a good girl and bought only one. We also made our own margarita. Boy, was that interesting.
I had fun that night. It was fun to dress up, put on some make-up, and act all girly. And there were no guys! It was a true girls night out in which I don’t do very often. Of course you can imagine the next day at work was quite a challenge for all of us because we stayed out till 10pm (including a dinner at a Mexican restaurant). I used to have no problem hanging out until 2 or 3am *nervous cough cough* in college, but I guess my body can no longer handle that kind of wild nights (haha, wasn’t really that wild).
