Persistence Pays Off

Unintentionally, my past weekend was completely neglected for publishment.  My apologies. Actually, last weekend was really fun, and busy.  After much convincing and persistence, my friend Yolanda finally decided purchase a TV!  On top of that, the continuance breakdown of her old laptop forced her get a new laptop for free (it got lemoned).

I was “hired”, or designated, as her IT tech crew for the weekend in helping her choose a new laptop, TV, and setup of them.  I can’t quite brag that I am a techy genius (I’m really not), but over the years of dating Z and knowing/working with several engineers/future engineers planted some knowledge of modern technologies.  I was rather happy to know that Z was waiting for my phone call as a backup plan, despite his need to study for a big exam.

We began the day with a trip to Pappadeux Seafood Kitchen; it was Yolanda’s treat to me for helping her move few weekends back.  We both enjoyed the nice atmosphere, great service, and most of all, the Pasta Mardrigas.  It was pure heaven of deliciousness.  My stomach was content, but my brain was trying to declare a food coma on me.

After visiting several stores for researching, we settled with a  40inch LCD Hitachi brand at Sam’s Club.  Yolanda wanted a smaller size, but my greediness worked as a charm on her.  To this day I’m still not sure why I was so stubborn about the 40inch…subconsciously I wanted that size?!  We moved on with buying HDMI cable to enable direct connection between her laptop and TV (learned from Z!) and desperately searching for the component cable.  It took us going to Wal-Mart to realize that all the new students bought every possible TV components you could imagine (Welcome back to school!).

We spent rest of the evening, till 11pm, setting up TV, showing her how the HDMI connection worked and other various options.  She was completely stoked about the sudden upgrade in her life through technologies, and I was happy to be part of it.

What and exciting adventure it was!  Recently heard was that she is completely fascinated with the whole HDMI/component cable connections and how it improved the quality of her TV viewing.  I also hear that she will be catching up on her Project Runway (or was it America’s Next Top Model?), Big Brother and Bachelor Pad.  Her and her obsession with reality TV shows…  This also means she will be playing computer Mahjong for hours on her TV screen…using a wireless mouse, also learned from Z.

I think I am spoiling everyone.
