Before & After

After being stuck in the apartment for days with no sunlight, I had to get out. So I did. Friday, I experienced the unlikely fluffy snow as I walked to my car. I liked the way it felt & certainly reminded me of the childhood in Buffalo, NY. But I probably wouldn’t want shovel the snow for the rest of my life so I don’t know about living in the North.

I noticed my car covered in snow. One of the tires was stuck in the ice. Clearly, cleaning the car was not on my daily agenda for living in Texas, but I enjoyed feeling the snow even if my hands went numb after a while. I also realized being short doesn’t really help when having to clean a car that is somewhat bigger than you. I thanked for not owning a SUV, though.

After pumping gas at Wal-Mart, my next adventure led me to Super Target. I say “adventure” as a literal term. Once I arrived, I was sort of puzzled from the lack of parking lines. The ground obviously was in a mysterious mix of ice & snow, & I had a difficult time finding the non-iced areas from my car to the store. It was a day like that when rain boots really came in handy.

I bought tons of grocery that day & went straight back home because I feared for other drivers. I really thanked my car for having ABS & traction & being so good to me in that odd weather.

Next day…

I noticed from the weather channel that DFW area warmed up. I opened up the curtains & saw the snow melting! (excitement of the Southerner)  Do you ever hate when you look so lazy & ugly all week long that you feel the need to dress up & for no reason? That’s exactly what I did. I straightened my hair. I put on some make up. I wore nice clothes. And I put my long coat on. I felt much better looking at my better-looking self. After going for grocery shopping round 2, I visited T.J. Maxx  for a typical girl shopping. Of course I came back with some good findings, like a cardigan & a sweater.

I couldn’t resist to notice how packed every store I went to. I suppose everybody had the Cabin Fever like I do. Super Target resembled an El Paso version of Wal-Mart (meaning really, really, crowded) to the point it ran out of carts. Also, I saw some crazy amount shopping by women at T.J. Maxx. Does isolation in the house cause an urgency to shop more? I wonder.

Anyway, my mood much better after having a couple of outings. It was great to see the sun again, though I heard it will rain again tomorrow.

Today is Super Bowl so I hope everyone is ready for some fun! I am rooting for my Packers.  :)
