Iced in

I cannot believe I am saying this, but today has been the second day for my school to entirely shut down because of icy road conditions. They are closing for tomorrow, too. People in the Northeast, please don’t laugh, but Dallas area has been in the below freezing temperature since it snowed/rained (whichever came first) since Monday night & never went back up. Hence the icy road conditions contributed by City of Dallas’ unpreparedness for any winter storms (they didn’t even salt the roads). I am glad I don’t have to be out there with other Texans, who can’t seem to drive logically in this kind of weather situation – I don’t want to be killed by them.

Therefore, I am enjoying my second winter break since Tuesday (& I don’t have work on Friday…you do the math). I must admit that I am absolutely loving it because I can sleep in & watch any TV shows I want all day long. Trust me, it has happened: I’ve watched TV all day long (Bones, NCIS, & Criminal Minds); ate everything I wanted; & stayed in my PJ. I don’t even remember combing my hair. I am simply thankful that I have the privilege to stay in a warm place unlike many others out there.

In the meantime, please pray that my family’s house in El Paso will not have an outage for the 4th or 5th time (clearly I lost the counting) because tonight is expected to be very cold for them as well.

I am sort of laughing at Texas’ inability to confront with this occasional, odd winter weather conditions but we are inexperienced folks & don’t see this very often like New Yorkers do. At least the groundhog did not see his shadow today, so early spring arrival is expected (woot!). I still believe that our earth is having a global warming & going crazy by bringing Ice Age to the entire country.

Please stay warm & safe, everyone!
