San Diego - Day 3

I apologize for constantly updating our trip a day late [Just know that current post is from yesterday's adventure - March 16th].

Me and Z would confidently say that Day 3 has been the most memorable day so far in this trip. In the morning, we went to go watch the whales (and the dolphins too). I knew that such type of business was active in San Diego but was discouraged that many of them were completely booked. Thankfully, my genius boyfriend was able to find one!

Our day started at 7:30am, which I had the most difficult time waking up...though, I think it was more difficult for Z trying to wake me up. Anyway, we made it to the designated location where we met our captain and his little boat (perfect for an intimate whale watching).

{Our cute little boat!}

The morning was warm and beautiful, but we were asked to wear a giant orange-looking suit. Even though I looked ridiculous in that suit, I figured it would keep me warm from the wind since the temperature will go down by 10-15 degrees by the time we are out in the ocean. [It was definitely much more cool once we were out in the ocean.]

{The orange suit}
{We saw a sea lion chill...life seemed good for him/her}
{We got to see an amazing view of the downtown}
{We saw our first view of the dolphin about 30minutes later}
{Dolphins!}

Unfortunately, by the time the whales showed up I had sea sickness so I stopped taking pictures. I think we went over 15 miles outside of the mainland. It was a great experience! After a 3 hour whale watching tour, we went to the Mission Beach to take a nap under the sun. By the way, we are all sun burned and red now...oh well.

{Water was cold, but I had to enjoy it while I can}

Another highlight of our day was the sunset watching. We were told to visit the Sunset Cliff Blvd by several people. After watching several surfers and waves hitting against the cliff, we saw the sun going down, leaving its beautiful colors behind in the sky.

{By then, I was cold...before I grabbed my jacket}
{The sunset was breath taking}
{The sun was down but left behind beautiful colors}
{We turned "orange" - thanks to our sunburned skin and the sunset}

After the sunset watching, we went to a cute French restaurant called Cafe Chloe. It was expensive, but I had a great time. Their food was really good. [I had steak and Z had mussels.]

So Day 3 was another eventful day but certainly more memorable than the others. My body was tired after a long, active day, but I was completely overwhelmed by the beauty California had for us. Honestly, I could understand why people like to visit here - it is so breath taking out here, especially when you are near the ocean constantly. It will be hard for me to return to Lubbock, the West Texas where water and the pretty natures are scarce. Before then, I am going to try to enjoy all that I can in San Diego.
