Having him for my trip to Denton, TX was a lot of fun. Without his presence there, my first visit to that place would have been miserable after having a non-stop of 5 interviews. It's really great when there is someone there with full support. That is my dad.
We spent a total about 20 hours in the car together. My dad drove for the most part which I am immensely thankful. We arrived at my Lubbock home around midnight, and he stayed up with me as long as he could while I studied my midterm for the following morning.
This morning, when I was up early reviewing materials for that midterm, my dad went out and got me McDonald's breakfast. He drove me to school, and came back to pick me up after my midterm [I was being a bad student by skipping out my last two classes, but I wanted to hang out with my daddy]. I got a well-deserved break with him afterwards.
After the midterm, we went to Daybreak Coffee Shop and had Nirvana. I'm sure mommy will be jealous once she finds out. He brought a car magazine discussing about the new models and used cars. Car usually becomes a hot topic of ours. I guess it's natural since he is an automotive engineer; he talked about it a lot since I was a kid.
Speaking of cars, we always do a special daddy-daughter thing: we go to car dealerships and look around new cars. Today, we went to the Hyundai dealership and discovered some new models, especially the 2010 Sonata. I have my Korean proud whenever I see cars made from there and, let me tell you, you should go check it out sometimes.
We also went to the park since the weather was gorgeous [it got rather hot towards later, though]. My daddy showed me his newly developed self-portrait skills, and in fact he is getting really good at it. Way to go, daddy.
{My daddy has gotten really good with his use of camera}
{I think I'm still better than him, and my hair is really ugly in this picture}
{The flowers are finally blossoming}
{I am beginning to see some signs of the spring}
For lunch we went to Saigon Cafe and ordered our favorite foods. I told him about my school, friends, and other things that we wouldn't talk about at home. And no, it wasn't about cars...!
So, it's been an hour since my dad left and wishing his safe trip back to El Paso. I will probably stay worried for a while until his arrival is confirmed. 7 hour drive to El Paso can be quite brutal. I thought about working out right now, but I am rather tired. I think I am going to take a nap instead. I miss my daddy, already.
