San Diego - Final Day (Day 6)

Day 6 was a sad day. Z didn't want to return to work, and I didn't want to go to school. I think the thought about heading back gave us a headache. Our plane was schedule to depart at 5:30pm which gave us plenty of time to still check out San Diego for the last time.

We woke up earlier than usual to finish packing and all that business. A good breakfast was definitely a 'must' so we chose our bet on The Mission. It was one of the restaurants I researched and made it to the list. Supposedly it had good coffee and, well, good breakfast overall. We showed up to the place with hunger and big empty stomachs. May I say how great the overall taste of the foods were. It was a little bit crowded and loud, typical characteristics of a popular restaurant, but we were satisfied by the tastes and services.

{This was Z's coffee...not exactly my kind, though}
{I think Z agreed too: he said that his coffee was "too" sweet}
{My coffee: simple and roasted. Yum yum}
{Our gigantic breakfasts. They were so good, but I was very full in the end}

After breakfast, we had about 3 hours to spare so we made our final visit to the Coronado Bridge and Silver Strand State Beach. We hung around at the Coronado Community Center for a while observing several Pelicans diving into the water for food. There were so many seagulls just chilling there, too. Oh, have I also mentioned that the flowers there were beautiful? I think Z got tired of me taking pictures of flowers, but each and every one of them were captured so beautifully.

{Coronado Bridge, it was built much higher than what you see in this picture}
{One of many Pelicans we saw. I was pretty close to him but didn't move at all}
{A very funny gentleman took a picture of us}
{I am no ballerina, but I tried!}
{He ruined my picture}

Just like the name, the Silver Strand State Beach is a strand of land extends from the mainland which created a cool effect along the shoreline. That part of the land is connected by a very long bridge aka the Coronado Bridge. While driving, we were able to enjoy the entire scenery of San Diego. We weren't in a mood to lay down under the sun, considering the fact that we were all sun burnt. However, we were always up for a simple relaxation. Everything was so peaceful.

{The Gallery: Flowers}

In the end, we took a fun walk in the little downtown area of Coronado. There were numerous boutique shops, galleries, and, of course, restaurants. When we took a brief stop at a gallery, I purchased an adorable-looking 5 X 7, yellow frame for an affordable price [I consider $14.75 in California an affordable one]. I can't wait to find a perfect picture to put it in there. Now that could be a difficult task.

On our way back to Houston [I am stopping by in Houston before returning to Lubbock], we all just fell asleep and probably dreaming of San Diego at the same time.

We had some wonderful times spent there and realizing how great other places can be besides the place you live in. Texas is a great state, I will admit, but being in California for a week made me daydream of a life I wished. Nevertheless, it was great to see the Lone Star State again. I definitely feel like I am back home now.

We were extremely blessed to take upon this wonderful trip. There were many things we enjoyed, particularly the whale watching - us Texans don't really have that luxury in our state. We immensely enjoyed the atmosphere at the beach, and the weather was simply spectacular. Many San Diego locals told us how lucky we were to enjoy that weather all week long. We left that place behind with many great memories to last. I, personally, was thankful for such a safe and fun "last" college spring break.

Unfortunately, many things will be happening for me soon after the closing of spring break, which I hope to update them about shortly. Until then, I am going to take a full advantage of the laziness when I can!
